Daniel Dinev Presents a Jubilee Exhibition

English translation from the original Bulgarian publication.

At LIK Gallery from September 2: “The Path” — a retrospective exhibition

With the solo jubilee exhibition of artist Daniel Dinev, LIK Gallery in Sofia opens its new season on September 2 at 6 p.m. In recent years the artist has revealed an enviable creative potential. After more than twenty years away from public exhibitions, he returned the previous year to present his new searches and discoveries.

The exhibition, titled “The Path”, his seventh solo show and dedicated to the artist’s 50th anniversary, offers a creative retrospective and traces his development in art through paintings from all of his periods. It shows the changes in his style and the different materials and techniques he uses — oil paint, mixed media, pastel and digital techniques. Dinev also presents previously unseen works created between his previous and current exhibitions — a highly active period marked by the refinement of technical skills and intensive work on composition and color. In his latest works he also experiments with plastic form, seeking 3D and 4D effects.

Although quite diverse stylistically, Daniel Dinev’s figurative and abstract compositions are filled with dynamism, a search for perfection of form, precision in constructing volumes and details, and a vivid sense of color. Elements of surrealism in his works provoke the viewer’s thought and invite them to see the invisible. With subtle sensitivity, vivid imagination and strong intuition, Daniel Dinev recreates images from his dreams and believes that every person lives not only in the real world but also in an unreal one.

His paintings are held in private collections both in Bulgaria and in many countries around the world, including Great Britain, Germany, Cyprus, the Netherlands and Japan.
